Virtual Taiji Qigong

In these 10 classes we will introduce a breathing and movement practice called Taiji Qigong 18 Forms. This set, developed by Professor Lin Hou Sheng, is made up of a combination of movements from Taiji Chuan (Tai Chi) and Qigong breathing and movements. All classes are drop-in, so you can attend any or all sessions.

When done regularly, this set has been shown to promote relaxation. It is simple to learn and the moves can be adapted to suit the needs of the individual. We will also work with various auxiliary practices to support the learning of the Taiji Qigong set, including some joint and muscle limbering movements, breathing exercises, and standing and seated meditation practice.

Instructor Anson Rathbone became an acupuncturist after pursuing an interest in various Chinese therapeutic movement exercises for several years that he learned from a number of teachers. Taiji Chuan and various styles and forms of Qi Gong and Dao Yin comprise most of what he learned. He has long held to the ideal of, when possible, putting effective traditional methods for health restoration and maintenance into people’s hands so that they may use them to sustain their wellbeing.
